We love traveling to this beach, its a long journey, about 90 miles and a 2 hour drive. The dogs like being in your truck, its an adventure for them. We stay at the Best Western at Face Rock Inn, the hotel excepts dogs. There is a quiet magic to Bandon Beach as the sun begins to set over the Pacific Ocean. The wide shoreline glows beneath the evening light, while the towering sea stacks stand against the horizon like enormous sculptures. The sky slowly changes from bright gold to deep orange, pink, and purple, creating a beautiful backdrop for the waves rolling onto the sand. In this peaceful setting, drawing circles in the sand becomes a simple way to enjoy the moment. Using a finger, a shell, or a small piece of driftwood, you can trace circles and patterns across the smooth beach. Each line is temporary, created for the pleasure of watching it take shape. The ocean, however, is always moving. With every incoming wave, the water creeps closer to the drawings. When we arrived from the Highway 101, Pacific Coastal road we started going down these cool stairs, and I had my camera in hand and I shot this cool view of the stairs and the beach with the pink sky. We make it a point to come to this area, as its great for photographers and artist. Parking at Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint is easy and getting down to the beach and seeing the "Circles In The Sand" by local artist and the tide pools. Wildlife watching during the winter and spring of the migrating whales. The beach is protected by the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge and provides home for hundreds of bird species with a great supply of food for them. You will see the birds on Face Rock, Wizard's Hat, Elephant Rock and all the other grand sea stacks in the ocean. The history and Native legends goes back to the NoSoMah Indian Tribe who inhabited the mouth of the Coquille River, and the Prince Ewauna who lays on Face Rock. In 1931 J.F. Kronenberg donated the orginal land to the State and was know as Bandon Ocean Wayside. Oher land was also given from private owners, and the legend of Ewauna, her voice can be heard in the wind and see her face on the rock. The beauty of this beach, it regularly changes with stunning views from Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint on the Highway 101. The Bandon State Natural Area is at 53969 Beach Loop Road Bandon. Visitors like to beachcomb, and artist and photographers have a great place for a subject for their inspiration. When ever we visit Bandon town and area, we always stay at the Great Western at Face Rock, a wonderful hotel, safe and clean and staff are very helpful and friendly, plus they the love our dogs. Getting to the hotel is at 3225 Beach Loop Road, Bandon. Rates will depend on room cost during the season, winter will be the cheapest due to the rainy season, but best times from late spring to early fall, but the weather can be temperamental any time of the year.  Bandon Beach can be beautiful in every season, but the weather on the Oregon Coast can change quickly. Dressing in layers is the best way to stay comfortable. Spring: Wear a warm jacket, sweater or fleece, long pants, and comfortable walking shoes. A waterproof or wind-resistant jacket is useful for cool, wet, and windy days. Summer: Summer is usually the most comfortable season for exploring the beach, but coastal temperatures can still be cool. Wear layers, such as a light jacket or sweatshirt with jeans or other comfortable pants. Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat for sunny days. Fall: Fall weather can be cool, windy, and rainy. Wear a warm sweater or fleece, long pants, and a waterproof jacket. Waterproof shoes or sturdy hiking shoes are helpful when walking on wet sand and trails. Winter: Winter can bring strong winds, rain, and chilly temperatures. Dress warmly with several layers, including a fleece or wool sweater and a waterproof, wind-resistant outer jacket. Warm pants, waterproof boots, gloves, and a hat are recommended. No matter the season, comfortable footwear is important because Bandon Beach has sandy areas, driftwood, rocks, and uneven ground. Most of the parking is free, with easy access, but any State Parks will charge a day fee.  Driftwood is one of the natural features that gives Bandon Beach its unique character. Along the shoreline, pieces of weathered wood are carried in by ocean waves and tides, creating fascinating shapes and patterns in the sand. Some pieces are small and smooth, while others are large tree trunks that have traveled down rivers or along the Pacific coast. Visitors often enjoy walking among the driftwood, photographing it, or simply admiring how nature has transformed it over time. Along this long coastline you will see many pools of water that have been filled with the sea and form great picture taking with the reflecting rocks in the water. There is much marine life with crabs, shellfish, worms, scallops, and birds ready for their next meal. The Sea Stacks are the main attraction on this beach with the grand Face Rock rising out of the Pacific Ocean. The Wizards Hat is one of the coolest sea stacks rocks with the waves crashing on the rocks, and the birds using them as a perch. We like staying at Best Western at Face Rock, a dog friendly hotel. Close by is Bandon Harbor, located along the Coquille River on the southern Oregon Coast, is a picturesque working harbor with a long connection to fishing, boating, and maritime life. The harbor is home to fishing boats, recreational vessels, and other watercraft that reflect the community's close relationship with the Pacific Ocean. Visitors can enjoy views of boats moving along the river and explore the harbor's docks and surrounding shoreline. The United States Coast Guard also plays an important role in maritime safety, helping protect boaters and responding to emergencies along the coast. The stunning Elephant Rock at Bandon Beach on the rugged and wonderful Oregon Coast. When I first came to Bandon Beach many years ago, I was blown-away with these grand Sea Stacks that rise from the Pacific Ocean. You have to be there to feel the spiritual place, the old folk-story of Princess Ewauna and the Coquille Indian Tribe and the story of Face Rock. According to a Coquille Indian Tribe tradition, Ewauna is connected to the ancient story of Face Rock on the southern Oregon coast. The story tells of a young woman who was traveling along the coast with her people when danger appeared. As the group faced a threatening force from the sea, Ewauna stood bravely to protect those around her. In the struggle, she was transformed into stone, becoming part of the dramatic rock formations known today as Face Rock. The evil spirit Seatka, tried to capture Ewauna, but her dog, Komax, and her cat and kitten in her basket, the evil spirit tossed them out in to the Pacific Ocean, and he kicked the dog, and held her and tried to make her look at her, in the end she laid on the sea smiling up at the white clouds.  Close by is Bandon harbor with the United States Coast Guard stationed there. We have stopped there and got some great of the boats at the marina. Close by is the town of Bandon, with the great sea food restaurants that have come in from the harbor, the gift shops, art galleries and the taste ice cream parlors. Their texture is wet and slick, and a soft feeling! I liked how they looked so I set my camera up and got a cool photo. Bandon Beach is a beautiful coastal destination on the southern Oregon coast, known for its dramatic rock formations, sandy shoreline, and spectacular sunsets. Getting to the beach is relatively easy, whether you are driving from another part of Oregon or visiting the town of Bandon. If you are traveling by car, Bandon is located along U.S. Highway 101, which runs along the Oregon coast. From the north, travelers can follow Highway 101 south through coastal communities such as Coos Bay and eventually arrive in Bandon. From the south, Highway 101 leads north from places such as Port Orford and Gold Beach. Once you reach Bandon, signs and local roads can guide you toward the beach access points. One of the most popular areas is Bandon Beach, located west of the town center. From downtown Bandon, travelers can follow local roads toward the coast and reach Beach Loop Drive. This scenic road provides access to several viewpoints, parking areas, and paths leading toward the shoreline. The drive itself is enjoyable because it passes through coastal scenery and gives visitors glimpses of the Pacific Ocean. Another well-known access point is Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint, where visitors can park and walk to the beach. The viewpoint is especially popular because of its unusual offshore rock formations. From the parking area, relatively short walking paths lead toward the sand and viewpoints overlooking the ocean. Visitors should be aware that some beach areas require walking over uneven or sandy terrain, so comfortable shoes are recommended. Staying at this beach you will find lots of motels on the highway 101, but we love the Best Western at Face Rock, as the accept our 4-legged friends. The historic cable car runs to the Castro district in San Francisco. It originally served the Castro and Noe Valley neighborhood from 1887 to 1941. It ran from Ferry Building down Market Street to the Castro Hill to 26th street in Noe Valley. Disaster happened in 1906, the Earthquake demolished most of Market Streets cable system, but the Castro grade survived due to the steep hills. The last Castro cable car on its final run on April 5th 1941, before being replaced by buses. The return of the rail in 1995, the electric streetcars on Market Street and the Castro, now the famous opening of the F-line.  The Ferry Building is one of San Francisco's most recognizable landmarks, standing prominently along the Embarcadero at the eastern edge of the city. I do not know who the passengers were but they added depth to the photo. The Powell-Hyde Cable Car Line is one of the most scenic ways to experience San Francisco. Running between downtown and the waterfront, the historic line takes passengers through some of the city's most famous hills and neighborhoods before reaching the Fisherman's Wharf area. The journey begins near Powell Street, where passengers can watch the cable car being turned around by hand at the historic cable car turnaround. Its white tower stands on a rocky headland, overlooking a stretch of coastline shaped by steep cliffs, forest, and powerful ocean waves. The lighthouse is not only a scenic destination but also an important part of Oregon's maritime history. I like how this photo came out, I angled it to make it a bit more interesting. Construction of Heceta Head Lighthouse began in 1892, as the U.S. government expanded navigational aids along the Pacific Coast. The lighthouse was first illuminated in March 1894, helping guide ships along a particularly rugged section of the Oregon shoreline. Its powerful light could be seen for many miles over the ocean, providing an important navigational reference for vessels traveling the coast. The lighthouse was named for Spanish explorer Bruno de Heceta, who explored the Pacific Northwest in the eighteenth century. The surrounding station once included several buildings, including a keeper's residence, but many of the original structures have disappeared. The lighthouse itself remains remarkably well preserved. I use to live in East Grinstead, Surry/sussex area, many years ago, and I moved to San Francisco, Bay Area in 1991 to work for a landscape company as a foreman. When I was out in Oregon, near 2000, my mum started not feeling well, she was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. I knew this might be the last time seeing her, so I went back to England just before Christmas of 1999. We had a great visit, but she was not well, I left after my trip, and in the New Year she died. Brings tears, we had our differences but was great seeing her. The famous red double-decker bus, that runs all over the City and outlining areas. Many tourist love the bus system, the London Underground, another experience to feel, with the deep escalators, and the tight rushing wind and noise as the tub cars come into the station. Few sights are more closely associated with London than the city's iconic red double-decker buses. Rising above the traffic with two levels of seating, these distinctive vehicles have become a familiar symbol of the capital, carrying passengers through some of the world's most recognizable streets and neighborhoods. The double-decker design makes practical use of London's busy urban roads, providing substantial passenger capacity without requiring a longer vehicle. From the lower deck, passengers can watch the city pass at street level, while the upper deck offers a higher viewpoint over buildings, landmarks, and bustling avenues. For visitors, riding a London bus can be as much a sightseeing experience as a way of getting around. The familiar red color adds to the buses' visual character, making them instantly recognizable in photographs and city scenes. I photographed many of the cobra lily plants, and when I got home, I uploaded each one to Photoshop and selected my favorites. I then decided to make the photo more dramatic and enlarged one of the areas in the photo, and chose a black spot and chose the "Clone Stamp Tool" and slowly blacked around the lily. It took a long time and had to carefully darken black by the plant, until I was happy how the picture looked, and how I wanted it. Lot of work! Rising from the cool, wet bogs of Oregon's southern coast, Darlingtonia californica is one of the most unusual plants found at Darlingtonia State Natural Site near Florence. Commonly called the cobra lily, its twisted, hooded leaves give the plant a striking appearance—and conceal an ingenious insect trap. Rather than relying entirely on nutrients from the soil, this carnivorous plant supplements its diet by capturing small insects. The cobra lily's tubular leaf forms a chamber that insects can enter but struggle to escape. A small opening beneath the hood allows light to shine through, creating the appearance of an exit. Once inside, an insect encounters smooth surfaces and downward-pointing hairs that make climbing back toward the opening extremely difficult. Traveling along Highway 101 between Yachats and Florence, the road threads through towering coastal forest before suddenly revealing glimpses of the Pacific. We like staying at the Best Western Inn at Face Rock, that is just off the Highway 101. The harbor at Bandon is impressive with the sea boats, and the United States Coast Guard is stationed their. We head down the dramatic and rugged coastline to Bandon Beach, it takes about 2 hours if traffic is good and 90 miles to the beach. We like staying at the Best Western Inn at Face Rock, as they accept our 2 dogs. I like to go down on the beach and photograph the stunning Sea Stack, that are Face Rock, Table Rock, Wizard's Hat that is cool, Table Rock and Cat and Kittens Rock rising out of the Pacific Ocean.  Bandon Beach on the Oregon Coast is the kind of place that makes you slow down and look. The grand rock points out into the water, with the water swirling and scattered clouds floating in the sky. Along Oregon's southern coast, towering sea stacks rise from broad stretches of golden sand; their weathered forms shaped over centuries by wind, waves, and the relentless power of the Pacific. The landscape feels almost sculpted. At low tide, reflections shimmer across wet sand; tide pools reveal another world beneath the surface, and the massive rock formations seem to change character with every shift of light. Its a gem of a photography location to photograph with the grand Sea Stack Rocks, Wizard's Hat, Cat and Kitten rock, Table Rock, and Face Rock. We like to head over the the coast from Springfield on Highway 126 West, going through Veneta, Walton, Mapleton, and arriving at Florence at the coast. Then we headed on the rugged Highway 101, south to Bandon, passing through Lakeside, North Bend, Coos Bay and eventually Bandon. The journey takes about 2 hours and 90 miles. At Bandon Beach on the rugged coastline, few places capture the drama of the Pacific quite like this beach. The beautiful Oregon coastline, with the clouds pulling towards the grand pointed rock, towering sea stacks punctuate the horizon, rising from broad expanses of golden sand that seem to stretch endlessly beneath the open sky. Sculpted by centuries of wind and waves, the shoreline has an almost otherworldly quality, especially when the changing coastal light transforms the rocks and surf. The Seine River is a 777‑km waterway flowing through northern France, but its most iconic stretch runs through central Paris, dividing the city into the Left Bank and Right Bank. It curves past many of the city's most famous landmarks, making it both a geographic anchor and a cultural symbol. The cathedral is a national treasure, a masterpiece of French Gothic architecture, and an example of invention, precision, and medieval creativity. The building, which was constructed without the aid of contemporary technology, has rib vaults, pointed arches, twin 69-meter towers, and the well-known flying buttresses. In 1163, King Louis VII ordered Bishop Maurice de Sully to start building the church. Due to financial constraints, severe medieval technical issues, the start of wars, and plagues, the construction of this Gothic cathedral took about 200 years, from 1163 to 1345. Because of a cigarette or an electrical short circuit in the wooden tower, the church had a terrible fire in 2019. The reconstruction cost a lot of money and took away a lot of history and parts of the cathedral that will never be found again. The famous public square is in the 1st arrondissement of Paris. It is the place to go with the high-end jewelry shops, luxury fashion shops, and the grand historic Ritz Hotel. The builds are designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart. The square was originally called Place Louis-le-Grand and late the Place Internationale. The original column was demolished, and in 1871 a new one was built by Napoleon I to commemorate the Battle of Austerlitz. Well-known celebrities who have lived here are Claude Dupin 1686-1769, Augustin Blondel de Gagny 1695-1776, Anne Lister 1734-1840, Coco Chanel 1846-1971, and Prince Jefri Bolkiah. It is referred to as the "Sacred Heart" and represents Jesus' divine love for humanity. The catholic church was completed in 1914 with a height of 83 meters, a width of 35 meters, and a length of 85 meters. There is a long climb to the entrance of the church with many steps. The Sacre-Coeur is visited by over 10-11 million visitors each year and is the second most visited site in Paris after the Eiffel Tower. My wife and our dogs love going to this beach, because it is great for picture taking, walking your dogs and building sand castles. The main attraction are the grand Sea Stacks, Face Rock, Wizard's Hat, Table Rock, Sunset Keyhole, and Cat and Kittens Rock, all these magical and grand Sea Stacks can be view from the the Highway 101 at the Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint. We love staying at the Best Western Inn At Face Rock Bandon Oregon Coast. They love taking our dogs, as its hard to find a "Pet Friendly Hotel", and the beach is very close to the hotel. The old town of Bandon is great for gift shopping, art galleries, sea food restaurants and ice cream parlors. You can go horse back riding on the beach at the Bandon Beach Riding Stables. The Bandon harbor is very close by with the United States Coast Guard at the Port of Bandon, here you can view all the beautiful boats.
